Spotify has announced it will raise the monthly price of its premium individual subscription in several global markets starting September 2025. The new price will be €11.99, up from €10.99, in regions including South Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Europe, Latin America, and the Asia-Pacific.

The company said it will notify subscribers by email about the price change over the next month.

Spotify hopes the increase will help boost its profit margins. The company’s stock jumped nearly 8% following the announcement and has gained about 40% so far in 2025.

This move follows a successful 2024, when Spotify reported its first annual profit, thanks to earlier price increases and cost-cutting efforts. However, it faced a loss in the second quarter of 2025 due to higher taxes on employee salaries, which also affected its third-quarter forecast.

To attract more users, Spotify has been expanding its video content through its Partner Program, which offers monetization tools for podcast creators. The platform has also benefited from recent Apple policy changes in the U.S., allowing apps to display subscription prices and use external payment links without Apple’s commission fees.

Spotify’s CEO Daniel Ek said this change has led to a “very positive uptick” in the U.S., and similar rules in Europe or the UK could help further.
