Sony has confirmed that it will continue adjusting the price of PlayStation Plus. This comes as more players are choosing to pay for the Extra and Premium tiers, despite recent price hikes. The announcement was made by Sony Interactive Entertainment president Hideaki Nishino during Sony’s annual investor meeting.
PlayStation Plus prices have already increased twice, once in 2023 and again in April 2025 in some regions outside the US. Even with the backlash from players, Sony says the higher tiers of PlayStation Plus are becoming more popular.
According to Nishino, about 38 percent of all PlayStation Plus subscribers are now on the Extra or Premium plans. He explained that Sony is focusing on making the service better by adding more features, improving game discovery, and giving players more personalized options.
Nishino added that the recent price increases are partly due to the value Sony says it brings with new content and improved features. “We will continue to add more value and adjust our pricing to maximize profitability,” he said.
While Sony hasn’t directly said how often prices will increase, the message is clear: more features likely mean more price changes. Still, even with fewer first-party game releases and a slow rollout of classic games, many PlayStation players are sticking with the higher-priced plans to enjoy the large game catalog.
For now, it looks like PlayStation Plus will continue to grow, with or without price complaints from players.
