Songwriters Get More Recognition on TikTok With This Feature

TikTok is rolling out new features that will help songwriters get more recognition on the platform. The updates include a special “Songwriter” label and a dedicated list of songs on their profiles.

With these new tools, songwriters and producers can showcase the songs they’ve written or co-written directly on their TikTok pages. The list will appear in a new section under the “Music” tab, similar to what TikTok already offers for performing artists. Additionally, anyone who registers as a songwriter will now have a “Songwriter” badge beneath their username.

TikTok says the new features expand on its earlier efforts to support the music community. The company previously introduced tools like the “New” tag for recently released songs and a “BehindTheSong” hub in 2023. This hub allows creators to share stories about how their music was made.

TikTok also started the “Off the Record” video series, featuring artists such as Shakira, Charli XCX, and Meghan Trainor, where they discuss the creative process behind their work.

Music is central to TikTok’s platform. The app has played a major role in launching the careers of many artists and making certain songs go viral.

TikTok has also worked directly with big names like Taylor Swift to promote music and give users ways to save songs to streaming services like SoundCloud. In 2023, TikTok launched a separate music streaming app, but it was shut down in 2024.

Currently, the new songwriter tools are being released in a closed beta, available only to a small group of publishing partners. However, TikTok is inviting songwriters and publishers to join a waitlist to access the features when they become more widely available.
