The Batman: Part II, the upcoming sequel to Matt Reeves’ 2022 hit, has added two major Hollywood stars to its cast. Scarlett Johansson has joined the film in an unconfirmed role, while Sebastian Stan has been officially cast as Harvey Dent.
Stan will play Dent, the Gotham City district attorney who later becomes the villain Two-Face. While his transformation may not happen in this film, the role sets up an important future storyline within Reeves’ Batman universe.
Johansson’s role has not been revealed, but reports suggest she may play a key character connected to Harvey Dent. One strong possibility is Gilda Dent, a figure from The Long Halloween comic storyline, which is believed to influence the sequel.
Director Matt Reeves is expected to continue the dark, crime-focused tone of the first film. The story may follow Batman working alongside Jim Gordon and Harvey Dent to stop a growing criminal threat in Gotham.
Robert Pattinson returns as Batman, with Barry Keoghan also set to reprise his role as the Joker. Colin Farrell will return as the Penguin, while Paul Dano is rumored to appear again as the Riddler.
Production is expected to begin soon at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in the UK. Johansson and Stan join the cast just weeks before filming starts.
The original The Batman earned $772 million worldwide despite releasing during the pandemic. Interest in the sequel has grown further after the success of HBO’s The Penguin series.
With strong returning characters and new star additions, expectations are high for The Batman: Part II as one of DC’s most anticipated films ahead of its planned 2027 release.
