Samsung is preparing to release its first tri-fold smartphone, the Galaxy G Fold, with a limited production run expected to begin in September 2025. According to a new report, the high-end device will be priced around ₩4 million (approximately $3,000) and will initially launch in China and South Korea.
The Galaxy G Fold will feature a 10-inch OLED display when fully unfolded, offering a tablet-like experience. The device will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, one of the fastest chips available for Android devices.
Despite its large screen, the Galaxy G Fold will reportedly come with a smaller battery than expected. Due to space and heat limitations, it will not match the 5,600mAh battery found in Huawei’s Mate XT. The phone is said to support 25W wired charging, and wireless charging support has not yet been confirmed.
Production of the tri-fold OLED panel will begin in August, with full device assembly starting in Samsung’s Gumi factory the following month. Because of the phone’s complex design and high production costs, Samsung is keeping the initial quantities low. This also allows the company to test the market’s response before considering a wider release.
Samsung is expected to tease the Galaxy G Fold at its Galaxy Unpacked event but will likely avoid a full reveal to maintain focus on the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7.
More details may surface in the coming weeks, especially during Samsung’s major announcements. Stay tuned.
