Samsung may soon join the smart glasses market as a rival to the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses, according to recent leaks.
The device, expected to debut in Q3 2025, could feature lightweight specs but might skip augmented reality (AR) displays.
The report, shared by Samsung leaker @Jukanlosreve, hints at a release during Samsung’s annual July Unpacked event. The glasses are rumored to use a Qualcomm AR 1 chipset, a 12MP camera, and a 155mAh battery.
Weighing 50g, these specs closely resemble the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses, which have a 154mAh battery and weigh 48g. Samsung’s glasses are also expected to integrate Google Gemini for AI functionality instead of Meta AI, though neither offers a standout advantage yet.
Without AR displays, Samsung’s glasses may fall short of XR capabilities. However, this simpler design could cater to casual, everyday use, similar to the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses.
Unlike wired AR glasses, such as the Xreal Air 2, Samsung’s glasses may focus on convenience with built-in speakers and AI features for regular wear.
If these leaks are accurate, Samsung could find success in a market with little competition and build excitement for its 2025 product lineup.
