Samsung impressed the crowd at CES 2025 with its latest OLED display technology. The company unveiled new slidable OLED panels for laptops, smartphones, and tablets, alongside its largest foldable OLED screen to date.
Samsung Display showcased three prototypes of slidable OLED panels: Slidable Flex Duet, Slidable Flex Solo, and Slidable Flex Vertical.
The Slidable Flex Duet is an 8.1-inch screen that expands from both sides to create a 12.4-inch display. It can transform a small tablet into a large-screen device, making it ideal for multitasking and entertainment.
The Slidable Flex Solo, designed for laptops, starts as a 13-inch screen and slides out to 17.3 inches. It offers extra screen space for tasks like coding, video editing, or immersive media consumption.
The Slidable Flex Vertical is tailored for smartphones. It begins as a compact 5.1-inch display and extends vertically to 6.7 inches. This makes it perfect for users who want larger screens for videos and browsing while keeping their phones pocket-friendly.
Samsung also revealed its largest foldable OLED panel, measuring 18.1 inches when unfolded and 13.1 inches when folded. This display can function as a laptop with a touchscreen keyboard or as a monitor with an external keyboard and mouse.
While it’s uncertain when this massive foldable screen will be available for consumers, Samsung’s previous 17.3-inch foldable prototype from 2022 has yet to hit the market. However, these innovations hint at the future of large foldable devices.
To showcase the durability of its OLED panels, Samsung brought a robot named OLEDog to the event. This dog-shaped robot, usually used in its Vietnam display plant, performed tap dances and kicked OLED panels, proving their strength and reliability.
Samsung’s latest advancements at CES 2025 highlight its commitment to redefining display technology. Whether for laptops, tablets, or smartphones, these innovations set the stage for the next generation of devices.
