Samsung is bringing hybrid cooling technology to its refrigerators in 2025. The new system combines a traditional compressor with a Peltier module, a semiconductor device that transfers heat when electricity flows through it.

This innovation helps reduce temperature fluctuations, keeping food fresher for longer. It also increases usable space by 25 litres compared to traditional models.

Samsung claims the hybrid cooling tech will debut in the RM80F23VM model, which is set to be the most energy-efficient refrigerator under the Energy Star rating in 2025.

The Peltier module activates only during significant cooling demands, such as after loading groceries or adding hot leftovers.

At other times, the fridge relies on the compressor for efficiency. Tests show the hybrid system can extend the freshness of pork by 1.4 times and salmon by 1.2 times.

These refrigerators will feature a 900-litre capacity and are expected to be showcased at CES 2025 in January.
