Samsung has released the June 2025 security update for the Galaxy S25 series, setting the stage for the upcoming One UI 8 software.
The new update applies to the Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra, and brings the usual security improvements. However, the biggest change is under the surface — Samsung has introduced Bootloader Version 4 with this update. This change locks the Galaxy S25 into a firmware path designed for future updates like One UI 8.
Although One UI 8 is not included yet, this bootloader is reportedly being used in Samsung’s internal tests of the new software, showing that One UI 8 is almost ready for public release.
Currently, the update is rolling out in South Korea, with more countries expected to follow soon.
Samsung is rumored to launch One UI 8 based on Android 16 in July, possibly around the same time as the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 launch.
