While Huawei’s Mate XT has already made waves, Samsung appears to be taking a slower approach to launching its first tri-fold smartphone.
According to Ross Young, a renowned display analyst, Samsung’s tri-fold device won’t be ready for its 2025 lineup, with its debut now expected in early 2026.
What to Expect
Samsung’s tri-fold smartphone will likely feature the Flex G design showcased by Samsung Display, focusing on a more compact inward-folding mechanism. This contrasts with Huawei’s Flex S wraparound design used in the Mate XT.
2025 Lineup Plans
For 2025, Samsung is expected to release updates to its Galaxy Z Flip and Fold series, including:
- Galaxy Z Flip6
- Galaxy Z Fold6
- Galaxy Z Flip6 FE
Additionally, a Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition may also join the lineup.
Huawei Leads the Way
Huawei’s Mate XT has set the standard for tri-fold smartphones, leaving Samsung to play catch-up. However, the delay suggests Samsung is prioritizing refinement and reliability over rushing to market.
