Samsung has begun testing the first beta build of One UI 8 for the Galaxy S25 Ultra. The new firmware appeared on Samsung’s test servers, signaling that the update may arrive soon.

The Galaxy S25 series launched with One UI 7, but One UI 8 will come as a software update. Firmware tracker Tarun Vats found the beta version with the code S938BXXU3ZYEA, confirming the development is underway.

Last year, the Galaxy S24 Ultra got a One UI 7 test build in May, but the final version took almost a year to roll out. This time, the update is expected to be smoother, since One UI 8 builds on One UI 7 without major changes to the base design.

The first public beta for the S25 series may release in mid-June, according to leaks. A full rollout will depend on how well the beta performs.

Samsung’s upcoming foldables — the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7 — will be the first devices to launch with One UI 8 pre-installed. These phones are expected in late July or early August.

Meanwhile, Samsung is already planning ahead with reports suggesting development of One UI 8.5 for next year’s Galaxy S26 lineup.
