Grammy winner Sabrina Carpenter has revealed a new version of her upcoming album cover following backlash over the original artwork for her album “Man’s Best Friend.”
On Wednesday, Carpenter posted an alternate cover featuring a black-and-white photo of her resting her head on a man’s shoulder. Several men can be seen in the background, but the image is far more subtle compared to the first version.
The new artwork, which she jokingly described as “approved by God,” replaces the original provocative photo that showed Carpenter on all fours while a man grabbed her by the hair.
That original cover sparked strong reactions online. Critics called it degrading to women, while supporters defended it as artistic expression and a bold statement on power dynamics. One viral post summed it up with, “Let women be horny.”
Though Carpenter hasn’t responded directly to the controversy, her “approved by God” caption hints at the criticism. The alternate version, also shot by Bryce Anderson, is available now on her website. She’s selling signed copies with a special black-and-white disc, giving fans another collectible option.
On the same day, Carpenter also announced a new collaboration with Dunkin’ Donuts: Sabrina’s Strawberry Daydream Refresher. The ad, directed by Nadia Lee Cohen, shows her as a playful “Daydream Matchmaker” in a vintage hotline setting.
Her album “Man’s Best Friend” is set for release on August 29.
