Sabrina Carpenter has opened up about her struggles as a female artist in the music industry. In a new interview with Rolling Stone, she shared her journey of building her career from the ground up without any major connections or family ties in the business.

The singer and actress explained that she started working in music as a child, often doing unpaid work just to gain experience. “It’s weird for a kid to think that way,” Sabrina said.

“It’s not like I had connections or information on how to do things. My parents didn’t either, so we were going to make mistakes. But I wouldn’t trade those moments for anything. It’s made me more resilient.”

Sabrina also spoke about how being underestimated has helped her grow. “I get smarter when people try to control me,” she said. “It’s sad, but it’s true. This is what makes us grow in every career, especially as women.”

Sabrina is now preparing to release her new album Man’s Best Friend on August 29. The album will include 12 songs. Its lead single, Manchild, came out last week and is already trending on Spotify.

With her honesty about the challenges of being a woman in the industry, Sabrina’s story is inspiring many young artists who are trying to make it on their own.
