Blackpink’s Rosé and Bruno Mars continue to dominate with their hit song APT, which has now surpassed PSY’s iconic Gangnam Style in terms of YouTube views.
On December 28, it was reported that APT‘s music video reached 700 million views, breaking the 12-year-old record set by Gangnam Style.
While PSY’s video achieved this milestone in 118 days, APT reached it in just 70 days and 13 hours, making it one of the fastest music videos to hit this mark.
Additionally, APT is now the fourth fastest music video ever on YouTube to reach 700 million views, following Adele’s Hello, Nicky Jam and J. Balvin’s X (EQUIS), and DJ Snake’s Taki Taki featuring Selena Gomez, Ozuna, and Cardi B.
Released on October 18, 2024, as the lead single from Rosé’s debut album Rosie, APT is inspired by a South Korean drinking game, with the song’s chorus based on the game’s rhythmic chant of apateu.
This marks Rosé’s first solo track in three years and her first release after leaving YG Entertainment in 2023.
On December 23, APT topped Billboard’s Global 200 chart with 142 million streams, holding its place in the top 10 global streaming weeks among songs released in 2024.
It also became the longest-running number one hit on the Global 200 chart this year, staying at the top for nine weeks.
On December 27, APT won the prestigious Song of the Year (Daesang) at the Asia Artist Awards 2024, solidifying its massive success.
