GTA 5 ― Liberty City Mod

Rockstar Games has taken down the popular GTA 5 Liberty City mod. A member of the World Travel modding team, nkjellman, confirmed the news on Discord. The team released a statement saying:

“Due to the unexpected attention that our project received and after speaking with Rockstar Games, we have decided to take down the Liberty City Preservation project.

We appreciate all the support that the project has received, and we look forward to continuing to pursue our passion for modding the Grand Theft Auto series.”

The mod brought Liberty City from GTA 4 into GTA 5, allowing players to explore the iconic city as Michael, Franklin, and Trevor. It gained significant attention in late December 2024, with many YouTubers showcasing its features.

On January 16, 2025, Rockstar’s action to remove the mod was made public, leaving fans upset. Many shared their disappointment online, as the mod had kept them entertained while waiting for GTA 6 news.

When Will Rockstar Share GTA 6 News?

Rockstar Games has not shared any updates on GTA 6 since releasing a trailer on Bilibili.

Fans now hope for news during Take-Two Interactive’s next earnings call, scheduled for February 7, 2025.

For now, the removal of the Liberty City mod has added to fans’ frustration as they eagerly await the next installment in the series.
