Rockstar Games has revealed it fired three more Grand Theft Auto 6 developers over leaks, amid an ongoing legal battle with the Independent Workers’ Union of Great Britain (IWGB).

Earlier, Rockstar dismissed over 30 GTA 6 developers, citing “gross misconduct” after employees claimed they were fired for trying to unionize. The union filed a legal complaint against Rockstar, alleging the company engaged in union-busting.

According to Rockstar, one developer from its Lincoln studio was fired in April 2025 for leaking information about GTA 6 online. Two others, one in India and another in the U.S., were also let go later in 2025. Rockstar stated the leaks were unrelated and emphasized their zero-tolerance policy on leaks.

“This was never about ‘union busting,’” a Rockstar spokesperson said. “Rockstar has always been consistent in its zero-tolerance approach to leaks.”

On January 12, UK Employment Judge Frances Eccles denied interim relief for the more than 30 fired developers. The IWGB acknowledged that winning such relief for a large group would have been “almost unprecedented.”

The union has raised concerns about Rockstar’s surveillance of a Discord server, alleging that an employee impersonated staff members to monitor developers covertly.

Rockstar defended its actions, saying, “We regret that we were put in a position where dismissals were necessary, but we stand by our course of action as supported by the outcome of this hearing.”

The IWGB has signaled it will continue legal appeals, asserting Rockstar broke the law by summarily dismissing 31 union members. The case is expected to continue for some time.
