Rockstar Games has launched an official user-generated content marketplace for Grand Theft Auto Online, allowing creators to sell mods directly to server owners.
The new platform is called the Cfx Marketplace. Rockstar describes it as a curated digital storefront where approved creators can share and sell their work. Server owners can choose from hundreds of mods, including maps, scripts, characters, clothing, vehicles, and more.
The marketplace is not open to everyone yet. Rockstar says it will roll out in phases and is currently available to a select group of creators to ensure quality and stability.
The Cfx name comes from Cfx.re, the team behind FiveM and RedM, two popular roleplay platforms for GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2. Rockstar acquired Cfx.re in 2023, marking a major shift after years of tension with the modding community.
Players have reacted positively to the move. Many say the official store makes it easier to find trusted creators and creates more competition among mod makers.
Some mods are free, while others are paid bundles. Prices vary widely, with certain large packs costing hundreds of dollars, depending on the content included.
Most mods currently support GTA 5, but the marketplace also includes content for Red Dead Redemption 2. More Red Dead mods are expected as the store expands.
With GTA 5 selling over 220 million copies, Rockstar appears to be preparing for the future. The Cfx Marketplace may also lay the groundwork for roleplay and mod support in the GTA 6 era, as fans wait to see how GTA Online will evolve next.
