Rihanna has released her first new song in over three years. The track, titled “Friend of Mine,” is part of the upcoming Smurfs movie soundtrack. The film is scheduled to hit theaters on July 18, 2025.
The song was released on May 16, 2025. It features an Afrobeats-inspired dance rhythm, with Rihanna singing the line, “You’re looking like a friend of mine.” A short teaser of the song was first heard in the Smurfs movie trailer released earlier this month.
Rihanna also voices the character Smurfette in the film and serves as a producer on the project. This marks her return to music since her 2022 song “Lift Me Up” from the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack.
