Redmi has confirmed that it will launch the Redmi Turbo 5 series later this month, introducing a new model called the Redmi Turbo 5 Max. The smartphone is expected to be priced around 2,500 yuan, or roughly $360, placing it firmly in the upper mid-range performance segment.
The company has released official teasers indicating that the Turbo 5 Max will be positioned above the standard Turbo 5, with a focus on stronger performance, better battery life, and a more premium design. Promotional images highlight the “Max” branding, with visual cues suggesting Redmi’s confidence in the device’s competitive edge.
While full specifications have not been officially revealed, leaks from China suggest notable upgrades across the Turbo 5 lineup. These include wider use of metal frames, large flat displays with rounded corners, and next-generation MediaTek processors. Reports also point to possible ultrasonic fingerprint technology on higher-end models and what could be the largest battery ever used in a Redmi smartphone.
According to current information, the Redmi Turbo 5 Max is expected to be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 chipset. Built on a 4nm process, the processor features an all-big-core CPU design and is set to debut in China on January 15. A higher-end variant, rumored to be called the Redmi Turbo 5 Pro Max, may feature the upcoming Dimensity 9500e chipset.
Outside China, the Redmi Turbo 5 Max and Pro Max are expected to be rebranded under Poco’s lineup. Reports suggest they could launch globally as the Poco X8 Max and Poco X8 Pro Max, with no standard Poco X8 planned for this generation.
Redmi has yet to confirm exact launch dates, specifications, or international availability. More details are expected to emerge as the official unveiling later this month approaches.
