Ray J has once again stirred controversy involving his ex-girlfriend Kim Kardashian and her mother, Kris Jenner. In a new audio clip obtained by Akademiks, Ray J accuses the Kardashian-Jenner duo of committing fraud and trying to ruin his career during a phone conversation with incarcerated music mogul Suge Knight.
In the recording, Ray J and Suge Knight discuss the fallout from Ray J’s relationship with Kim Kardashian, claiming the reality star and her mother manipulated events to damage his public image. Ray J has long voiced frustration over how their infamous 2007 sex tape shaped both of their careers — boosting Kardashian’s fame while, he claims, hurting his.
This is not the first time Ray J has made such claims. Earlier this year in March, he posted on X (formerly Twitter), writing, “Kim is nothing without me wtf I made that btch #fckingLAThotties.” The post sparked backlash, with critics pointing out Kardashian’s own business success with SKIMS and her legal reform efforts.
Ray J’s recent actions are also drawing attention to his personal struggles. In a July podcast appearance on Drop The Lo with Evelyn Lozada and Shaniece Hairston, he admitted to feeling like an “embarrassment” to his family, particularly his sister, singer Brandy. “I never wanted to be accepted [by my family],” he said. “I just feel like I’m an embarrassment.”
Despite the tension, he said their children remain close, suggesting some family connection remains. “My kids were over at Brandy’s house two days ago,” he shared. Brandy has not publicly commented on her brother’s remarks.
