Pusha T Pays Seven-Figure Sum to Release Album With Kendrick Verse Intact

Hip-hop duo Clipse is set to release Let God Sort Em Out on July 11, marking their first full-length album since 2009. The project features high-profile collaborators, including Nas, Tyler, The Creator, Stove God Cooks, and Kendrick Lamar, who appears on a track titled “Chains & Whips.”

In a recent interview with journalist Elliott Wilson, Pusha T spoke about why Kendrick Lamar was chosen for the album. “Kendrick is a top-level lyricist! We can only have top-level lyricists on a Clipse album,” Pusha said. He added that anyone featured must have a unique voice and either be a legend or a rising star with clear potential.

However, Kendrick’s involvement didn’t come without challenges. According to Pusha T, Universal-owned Def Jam wanted the group to censor Lamar’s verse, not due to any reference to Drake—as some fans speculated—but over his use of the phrase “trump card.” Clipse refused and instead paid a seven-figure sum to exit their Def Jam deal. They later signed a distribution agreement with Roc Nation.

Despite the hype, Let God Sort Em Out has already suffered an early leak online. Some tracks reportedly surfaced just days before its official release. However, the leaked songs are said to be incomplete or low quality, leaving fans eager for the full project on Friday.

With its star-studded features and the return of Clipse, the album is expected to be one of the standout hip-hop releases of 2025.
