The PlayStation 5 is nearing its fifth anniversary, and speculation about the PlayStation 6 is already heating up.

A recent leak suggests that two versions of the next-gen console are in development, with one potentially being more affordable—but what that means is up for debate.

The Leak: Two PS6 Models?

Leaker KeplarL2 shared on NeoGAF that two SoCs (system on a chip) are being developed for the PS6.

While it’s unclear whether this means a high-end/low-end console split (like the Xbox Series X and S) or a home console and handheld pairing, one of the models is expected to be more budget-friendly.

This raises the big question: What does ‘affordable’ actually mean?

Fan Reactions: Price Speculation Begins

With no official pricing details, fans have already started predicting potential price points.

Some speculate a $400 base PS6 with a $700 premium version, while others believe Sony might launch a PS6 at $600 and a PS6 Pro between $800 and $1,000.

While a two-model launch would be a first for PlayStation, it could allow Sony to cater to different types of gamers from day one. However, pricing will be key in determining whether this strategy pays off.

What’s Next for PlayStation?

Sony hasn’t officially confirmed any details about the PlayStation 6, but with the PS5 Pro rumored to launch later this year, it’s likely that development of the next-gen console is well underway.

As more leaks and details emerge, the debate over performance, price, and release strategy is only going to intensify.

Would you prefer a cheaper, standard PS6 or a premium high-performance version?
