Sony is reportedly addressing performance issues with the PS5 Pro to improve the gaming experience.
Since its release on November 7, 2024, the PS5 Pro has faced some challenges, including graphical issues with certain games like Silent Hill 2 Remake and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. These issues are mainly linked to the PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) technology.
The PS5 Pro is capable of running games at higher resolutions and frame rates, thanks to a GPU that is 45% faster than the regular PS5.
However, some games have not run as smoothly on the console, causing frustration among players. Sony has reportedly been releasing multiple updates to PSSR to fix these issues, and developers are using the latest version in their games.
In addition to the PSSR issues, PS5 Pro owners have also faced a shortage of disc drives, with scalpers driving up prices and making it difficult to find the console in stores.
Despite these problems, the PS5 Pro has sold well, with sales matching those of the PS4 Pro, according to gaming analyst Mat Piscatella.
Sony is working to resolve both the PSSR and disc drive issues, which should improve the experience for PS5 Pro owners in the near future.
