Prosecutors: Diddy Used Threats to Force Sex — That’s Coercion

Sean “Diddy” Combs is nearing the end of his high-profile criminal trial in New York City, as prosecutors delivered powerful closing arguments on Thursday, June 26, 2025. The music mogul faces multiple charges, including sex trafficking, racketeering, and transporting individuals for prostitution.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Christy Slavik told the jury they only need to find one confirmed act of sex trafficking to convict Diddy. She argued that his alleged actions had a clear goal — to pressure women into sex through threats and control.

“The defendant’s conduct had one purpose — to get Jane to agree to do ‘hotel nights,’” Slavik said in court. “That is sex trafficking.”

Prosecutors focused heavily on the testimony of Jane Doe, who said Diddy threatened to stop paying her rent unless she agreed to sex acts. Slavik stated that this kind of pressure counts as coercion, saying:

“Threatening to take away her home could turn a no into a yes. That’s coercion — and it worked.”

The prosecution also highlighted the testimony of Cassie, Diddy’s former partner, who spoke for days about years of alleged abuse.

Diddy, 55, is charged with:

  • 1 count of racketeering conspiracy
  • 2 counts of sex trafficking by force, fraud, or coercion
  • 2 counts of transporting individuals for prostitution

Some earlier charges were dropped or reduced by the judge to simplify the case. If convicted on all counts, Diddy could face life in prison.

Diddy’s attorney, Marc Agnifilo, is expected to deliver closing arguments for the defense soon. The government will then give a final rebuttal before the jury begins deliberation.
