The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced the official Oscar shortlists in 12 categories, marking a key stage in the awards season ahead of final nominations.
Warner Bros.’ “Sinners” and Universal Pictures’ “Wicked: For Good” lead all films with eight shortlist mentions each, appearing across major technical and music categories. Netflix’s “Frankenstein” followed closely with six mentions, while international contender “Sirât” delivered a strong showing across several categories.
This year’s announcement includes the first-ever shortlists for Achievement in Casting and Cinematography, expanding the Academy’s recognition of key creative disciplines.
Final voting will determine the nominees, which will be announced on January 22. The 98th Academy Awards will take place on March 15, with Conan O’Brien returning as host.
