The highly anticipated Nothing Phone (3a) has officially entered production, with assembly taking place in Chennai, India.

As the March 4 launch approaches, Nothing has been teasing details about its upcoming mid-range smartphone, which could bring some big upgrades to the segment.

Nothing Phone (3a): Key Upgrades & Features

Nothing is expected to take transparency to the next level, with rumors suggesting a polycarbonate back—a lighter alternative to glass—while retaining its signature transparent aesthetic.

Performance-wise, the Phone (3a) will be powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3, with two configurations:

  • 8GB RAM + 128GB storage
  • 12GB RAM + 256GB storage

The display is also getting a major boost, expanding to a 6.8-inch 1080p OLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate for smoother visuals.

A Rare Mid-Range Upgrade: Telephoto Camera

One of the most exciting leaks is the introduction of a telephoto lens, a feature rarely seen in mid-range smartphones.

The 50MP 2x zoom shooter was recently spotted in leaked images, suggesting Nothing is aiming to outclass competitors like the Pixel 9a, Galaxy A36, and iPhone SE 4, none of which are expected to feature zoom cameras.

There’s also speculation about a mysterious new button on the device, which could serve as a dedicated camera button—possibly allowing users to control zoom or act as a shutter key, similar to what’s rumored for the iPhone 16.

Nothing’s Expansion in India

Nothing is seeing massive growth in India, with a 577% year-over-year increase in 2024. The Phone (3a) is being assembled by over 500 workers in Chennai, with an impressive 95% of them being women—a move that showcases Nothing’s commitment to local manufacturing and employment.

When Will the Nothing Phone (3a) Launch?

The Nothing Phone (3a) is set to launch on March 4, and with its unique features—including a telephoto camera, upgraded display, and transparent design—it could be one of the most exciting mid-range smartphones of 2025.
