Nintendo has updated the file sizes of several games for the upcoming Switch 2 console, which launches soon.
The new Mario Kart World game’s size has dropped from 23.4GB to 21.9GB in official listings in the US and Japan. This shows Nintendo’s effort to keep game sizes manageable, even though the Switch 2 comes with a large 256GB internal storage.
Other changes include the Nintendo Classics GameCube app increasing from 3.5GB to 5.1GB and the Switch 2 Welcome Tour shrinking from 2GB to 1.6GB. The Kirby and the Forgotten Land upgrade pack is now listed at 11GB.
Third-party games like Hitman and Street Fighter 6 have also seen size reductions. These adjustments may continue as Nintendo finalizes storage needs before the console’s release.
File sizes can still change with updates after launch. We will share any new information as it becomes available.
