Nintendo has confirmed that the Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) support for the new Switch 2 console is limited to handheld mode only, not for TV use as previously stated on some official websites.

The company apologized for the incorrect information that was initially published.

In a statement, Nintendo said, “Nintendo Switch 2 supports VRR in handheld mode only. The incorrect information was initially published on the Nintendo Switch 2 website, and we apologise for the error.”

Regarding VRR support for docked (TV) mode, Nintendo did not rule out a future firmware update but offered no firm announcements, saying, “We have nothing to announce on this topic.”

This clarification follows the removal of misleading VRR references from Nintendo’s European websites.

While disappointing for users expecting TV VRR support, there remains hope that it could be added later.
