New Voice Cast and Trailer Unveiled for ‘Fist of the North Star’ Remake

Warner Bros. Japan revealed a new trailer and details for the upcoming CGI remake of the classic anime Fist of the North Star during their panel at Anime Expo. The new series, celebrating the manga’s 40th anniversary, is scheduled for release in 2026, though an exact date has yet to be announced.

The trailer showcases a bleak wasteland setting and intense action scenes, staying true to the violent and gory style of the original manga. Fans get a first look at the main character Kenshiro, depicted with his iconic muscular build, as well as two key companions, Bat and Rin. A new poster highlights Bat and Rin walking alone through the desolate landscape.

The main cast has been announced, with Shunsuke Takeuchi voicing Kenshiro. Daiki Yamashita and M.A.O. will voice Bat and Rin, respectively. This casting marks a new era for the character, who was originally voiced by Akira Kamiya in the 1980s anime.

Warner Bros. Japan emphasized that the new anime aims to be a more faithful adaptation of the original manga by Buronson and Tetsuo Hara. The manga, which concluded in 1988 after 245 chapters and 27 volumes, is one of the best-selling manga series with over 100 million copies sold worldwide.

Fist of the North Star tells the story of Kenshiro, the last master of the deadly martial art Hokuto Shinken, as he wanders a post-apocalyptic Earth fighting for justice. Bat and Rin are young travelers who join him in his quest across the wasteland.

The original anime adaptation by Toei Animation aired from 1984 to 1987 with 109 episodes, followed by a sequel series with 43 episodes. The new CGI remake is highly anticipated by fans eager to see a modern take on this legendary story.
