Marvel’s upcoming New Avengers series, previously known as New Thunderbolts, is set to introduce a major new threat to the Marvel Universe. Debuting this June, the Killuminati are sinister doppelgangers of the Illuminati, a group of powerful and influential heroes.
However, the Killuminati are twisted versions of the original team, with their most dangerous traits amplified and their ambition unchecked. The upcoming series will see the New Avengers—led by Bucky Barnes, Black Widow, Hulk, Namor, Wolverine (Laura Kinney), Clea, and Eddie Brock’s Carnage—take on these formidable villains in a battle to save the world.
The series, penned by Sam Humphries with art by Ton Lima, will feature variant covers that showcase the Killuminati in their full, demented glory. These covers, designed by Josemaria Casanovas, Rod Reis, Ivan Tao, and Salvador Larroca, will be featured on the first five issues of the series.
The new roster of New Avengers is unlike any other, with a mix of loners, anti-heroes, and killers—perfectly suited to take down the Killuminati. Humphries, known for his unique vision of Marvel characters, has promised that this team will differentiate itself from other Avengers groups, with a more dangerous and morally complex team dynamic. “This is a lineup of bastards, and that’s exactly what we need to face off against the Killuminati,” he stated.
The Killuminati will test the New Avengers’ ability to unite, as these devious villains are just as powerful and ambitious as the original Illuminati, but without any sense of moral restraint.
The series promises intense action, high stakes, and a fresh twist on Marvel’s iconic characters. Fans can expect New Avengers to be a bold new chapter in the ongoing Marvel saga.
