A former Netflix executive has filed a lawsuit claiming she was fired for speaking up about gender bias and sexual harassment.
Amy Takahara, who worked as director of kids and family content at Netflix, says she was treated unfairly by her boss, Edward Horasz. She says Horasz created a “hostile environment” and often made sexist comments.
In the lawsuit, Takahara says Horasz made jokes comparing her to his wife, claimed she couldn’t handle shows aimed at men, and pushed for inappropriate content involving teenage girls in shows. She also says he didn’t give her credit for her work on the popular 2024 Netflix show Geek Girl.
Takahara says she reported the issues to Netflix’s human resources department, but the company did not take proper action. After several complaints, Takahara was fired in early 2025. She believes this was punishment for speaking out.
Netflix responded by saying her job was removed due to downsizing and that her claims are not true.
This is not the first time Netflix has faced similar legal action. Another former employee also filed a complaint earlier this year, saying she was fired for raising concerns about how women of color were treated.
The case is ongoing.
