Netflix Fans Watch Yellowstone for 686 Million Hours as New Spin-Off Begins

Netflix fans have spent over 686 million hours watching the popular TV series Yellowstone between January 2024 and June 2025. The American show has five seasons and three spin-offs, with more spin-offs currently being made.

Yellowstone stars Kevin Costner as John Dutton, the head of a powerful family that owns the largest cattle ranch in the US. The story follows the family as they protect their land in Montana from land developers, a nearby Native American reservation, and Yellowstone National Park.

The show first aired in 2018 and has become a fan favorite. Rotten Tomatoes rates it at 83% on average, with the third season earning a perfect 100%.

Fans praise the series for its great writing, strong characters, and epic story. Many say it is “one of the greatest shows of all time.”

Filming has started for a new spin-off called Rio Palo. The show is being filmed in Ferris, Texas, using locations like a ranch, the city downtown, and nearby areas.

Other spin-offs already released include 1883, 1923, and Lawmen: Bass Reeves. More spin-offs like 1944, 6666 (Four Sixes), The Madison, and a series about young John Dutton are also in development.

Yellowstone streams on Netflix in the UK and Peacock in the US.
