Sony has released its year-end charts for the PlayStation Store, showing NBA 2K26 as the most-downloaded PlayStation 5 game in the United States and Canada.
The rankings reveal gaming trends for 2025, with sports games and action shooters dominating the market. NBA 2K26 took the top spot, followed by Battlefield 6, which launched in October and received strong reviews for its large-scale modern warfare gameplay.
Sports titles filled four of the top five positions, including new releases from Madden NFL and EA Sports College Football. These games show that sports gaming remains hugely popular in North America.
Despite being more than a decade old, Grand Theft Auto V stayed strong at #3. Fans continue to enjoy GTA Online while waiting for news on new installments. Minecraft also kept its “evergreen” appeal, finishing the year at #6.
New games also made their mark in 2025. ARC Raiders, a third-person extraction shooter, reached #8, while Ghost of Yōtei, a single-player story game set in 1603 Japan, ranked #9. This shows that new franchises and narrative experiences still attract players.
The top ten for the US and Canada also included Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 and MLB The Show 25, confirming that established franchises remain popular.
Interestingly, European players preferred football (soccer) games. EA Sports FC 26 was #1 in the EU, while Battlefield 6 and GTA V also performed well across regions.
As 2026 begins, these charts highlight a balanced PS5 library, where proven hits and fresh releases thrive together.
