A recent fan-driven poll has ranked Michael Schumacher as the greatest Formula 1 driver since the year 2000, following more than 1.1 million votes. The survey aimed to identify the most talented and popular drivers of the modern era of F1.
The ranking considered drivers who competed in at least one Formula 1 World Championship race since 2000, narrowing the field to 127 contenders. Fans voted in head-to-head matchups, selecting which driver they thought was better, rather than relying purely on statistics.
Top 10 Formula 1 Drivers Since 2000 (Fan Vote):

- Sebastian Vettel
- Fernando Alonso
- Max Verstappen
- Lewis Hamilton
- Kimi Räikkönen
- Charles Leclerc
- Nico Rosberg

- Carlos Sainz
The survey also identified the least popular drivers. Nikita Mazipin, with only a 12% win rate in matchups, was ranked the lowest, while Lance Stroll placed 88th. Other drivers, including Nicholas Latifi and Pastor Maldonado, appeared in the lower half, reflecting fan perceptions rather than career achievements alone.
Organizers noted that while the poll does not provide a definitive “GOAT” of Formula 1, it offers insight into fan opinions and how drivers are perceived in the modern era, blending performance with popularity and personality.
