Michael B. Jordan to Star and Direct The Thomas Crown Affair Remake

Michael B. Jordan will both star in and direct the upcoming remake of the classic heist thriller The Thomas Crown Affair. The film will also feature a notable cast including Danai Gurira, Lily Gladstone, Kenneth Branagh, and Taylor Russell.

Unlike the 1999 version set in New York City, this new adaptation will take place in Europe. The change in setting aims to showcase iconic museums and landmarks as the backdrop for the high-stakes art theft central to the story.

Jordan’s production company, Outlier Society, is leading the project along with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and Atlas Entertainment. Alan Trustman, writer of the original 1968 film, will serve as an executive producer.

Filming started in London in July 2025, with Amazon MGM Studios handling global distribution. The film is scheduled to release in theaters, including IMAX, on March 5, 2027. This project marks Jordan’s second time directing a major film after his successful debut with Creed III in 2023.

Known for combining classic storytelling with modern style, Jordan will play the role of a billionaire art thief opposite Taylor Russell’s suave private detective, continuing the franchise’s mix of suspense and romance.
