Metro Boomin recently opened up in a GQ interview about his fallout with Drake, explaining that the conflict stemmed from a personal issue rather than a romantic rivalry.
“It really hurt and disappointed me,” Metro shared, calling the situation a “regular” disagreement between friends, though heightened by their celebrity status. “This just happens to have an audience,” he added.
Metro dismissed speculation that his collaborative albums with Future, We Don’t Trust You and We Still Don’t Trust You, were created as diss records targeting Drake.
“People think we sat for two years, making two albums [to be] like, ‘Yo, f**k this dude.’ What kind of sh*t is that?” he said, asserting that such rumors are far from the truth.
Reflecting on his own actions, Metro admitted regret over his online responses to perceived disses in Drake’s tracks like “Push Ups” and “Family Matters.”
“Now I did have my moment online, which I do regret. I should have been stronger than that,” he acknowledged.
Future, however, appeared indifferent to the alleged feud. When asked about it, he responded with a smirk, claiming he hadn’t engaged in any “rap battles,” indicating the conflict held little significance to him.
Metro Boomin’s revelations highlight the complexities of friendships in the hip-hop world, where personal disputes often become public spectacles.
By addressing the rumors, he aims to clarify misconceptions while emphasizing the genuine nature of his artistry.
