Meta Plans Standalone Meta AI App for 2025 Release

Meta

Meta is set to launch a standalone Meta AI app in the second quarter of 2025, aiming to compete with OpenAI’s ChatGPT and other AI chatbot services.

This move aligns with CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s vision to make Meta the leading AI company by the end of the year.

Meta AI’s Expansion

Meta AI was first introduced in September 2023 as a generative AI-powered digital assistant integrated into Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger.

The AI chatbot became the default search feature on these platforms, making it a key part of Meta’s ecosystem.

Despite having 700 million active monthly users, Meta AI’s reach has been limited because it’s not available as a standalone app like ChatGPT or Google Gemini.

The new app will allow deeper personalization and more interactive conversations.

Paid Subscription Model

Meta is also testing a paid subscription model for Meta AI, similar to OpenAI’s ChatGPT Plus. This premium offering would give users access to more powerful AI features and personalized recommendations.

Competitive Landscape

Meta’s standalone AI app will enter a competitive market, going up against:

  • ChatGPT by OpenAI
  • Gemini by Google
  • Grok by xAI

Zuckerberg’s goal is to make Meta AI the most-used chatbot in the world by the end of 2025.

What’s Next?

Meta plans to integrate the standalone app with its Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses and other hardware products.

The app could revolutionize how users interact with AI across social media and smart devices.
