Squid Game Season 2 brought back fan favorites like Seong Gi-Hun and the Frontman while introducing a host of new characters.

Among them, Thanos stood out as a ruthless and cunning antagonist, leaving a lasting impression on viewers. But who is the man behind the character?

Choi Seung-Hyun, aka T.O.P.: The Face of Thanos

Thanos is portrayed by Choi Seung-Hyun, better known as T.O.P., a South Korean rapper, actor, and songwriter. A prominent figure in K-pop, T.O.P. rose to fame as a member of the group BIGBANG and became the first Korean artist to feature on Growse Magazine’s Top 200 Artists chart.

He made his acting debut in the 2007 K-Drama I Am Sam and has since appeared in numerous films and TV shows, including Nineteen, Iris, and now Squid Game Season 2.

Thanos: The Character

Thanos, whose real name is Choi Su-bong, is a former rapper who lost his fame after a disastrous performance where he forgot his lyrics.

Adding to his downfall, he lost his wealth in cryptocurrency investments. Driven by desperation and greed, he enters the Squid Game, quickly establishing himself as a brutal and manipulative player.

From pushing two players to their deaths during Red Light, Green Light to using drugs to maintain his composure, Thanos embodies the darker side of human survival instincts. His overconfidence and lack of empathy make him a loathed yet fascinating character.

Thanos’ Demise

Thanos’ journey ends in a violent confrontation. After bullying another player, Min-su, and instigating conflict between Team 0 and Team X, he meets his end at the hands of Myung-gi during a chaotic fight.

His death serves as a turning point in the season, reflecting the consequences of unchecked ambition and arrogance.

T.O.P.’s portrayal of Thanos adds depth to Squid Game Season 2, cementing his place as one of the series’ most memorable villains.
