Marvel Comics has announced an exciting new Star Wars series set in the New Republic era, just after Return of the Jedi. The series will star iconic characters Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia Organa, and Han Solo as they face new challenges and enemies in a galaxy striving for peace.
A New Era for Star Wars Comics
The new Star Wars series will be written by bestselling author Alex Segura and illustrated by Phil Noto. Both creators are experienced in the Star Wars universe, with Segura previously writing about Poe Dameron and the Battle of Jakku, and Noto providing artwork for various Star Wars projects.
“It’s an honor to guide the Star Wars flagship series,” Segura said. “Phil Noto is a masterful artist, and together we’re blending the familiar with new threats and surprises.”
Noto added, “I’m thrilled to draw these classic characters in a post-Return of the Jedi era. It’s exciting to create new looks for them while using references from the 80s to keep the timeline authentic.”
What to Expect
The series will fill the gap between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens. The stories will feature the following:
- Luke Skywalker defending the New Republic from mercenaries.
- Han Solo uncovering mysteries in the underworld.
- Leia Organa managing alliances and political challenges.
The overarching narrative will span three limited series: Insurgency Rising, Republic Under Siege, and Last Stand.
“These stories mix action with emotional moments, giving fans the character depth they love,” Segura explained. “Each issue will be accessible for new readers while keeping long-time fans engaged.”
Release Details
The first issue, Star Wars #1, will release on May 7, just before Star Wars Day.
