While Martin Garrix’s set at this year’s Ultra Music Festival might not have been the most interesting one, the Dutch DJ/producer still managed to surprise fans with a few exciting teasers and collaborations.
Kicking off his performance with an intro edit of his track “Empty” with DubVision from recent IDEM EP, Garrix treated the crowd to a mix of his own hits and upcoming releases from his STMPD RCRDS label mates, including Julian Jordan, Matisse & Sadko, Third Party and Eleganto.
Although the list of upcoming Martin Garrix music isn’t extensive, he did give fans a taste of his collaboration with Sem Vox, “Gravity,” and created a memorable moment by mashing up Avicii’s “Fade into Darkness” with his own “Hurricane.”
The highlight of Garrix’s Ultra Miami 2024 set, however, was his unexpected foray into the world of drum and bass. He teased an upcoming AREA21 DnB track, tentatively titled “Drinks Up,” and surprised the crowd with a mashup of his hit “Scared To Be Lonely” and Arcando’s “Jungle” remix, leaving fans in a frenzy on social media.
Notably absent from Garrix’s set was his much-anticipated collaboration with Alesso, “Look Inside Our Hearts,” leading to speculation about whether the track has been shelved or not. The vocal for the track has already been changed once, as evidenced by Garrix’s previous live performances of the song.
Garrix closed out his Ultra Miami 2024 set on a high note, treating fans to a beautiful progressive track titled “Wherever You Are,” a collaboration with DubVision featuring vocals from Shaun Farrugia.
As always, Martin Garrix’s performance at Ultra Miami left fans eager for more, with the teasers and collaborations only whetting their appetite for what’s to come from the talented producer.
