M&S Shoppers Stunned as Christmas Beef Wellington Costs £195

Marks & Spencer’s new Christmas food range has left shoppers stunned, with many questioning the cost of one particular item: the Beef Wellington.

The premium pre-made dish, crafted by celebrity chef Tom Kerridge, serves six people and costs £195. It includes a beef fillet joint wrapped in mushroom duxelles, prosciutto, and pastry, sometimes with additional luxury ingredients like foie gras.

The dish is traditionally difficult to cook, requiring a careful balance to ensure the pastry is crisp without overcooking the beef. Kerridge promoted the Wellington as a way for families to enjoy a luxury Christmas meal without spending hours in the kitchen.

Social media reactions were swift. One user wrote, “Wtf?! That’s ludicrous.” Another joked, “So does Tom Kerridge actually come round to your house on Christmas Day and make it?” Others highlighted the sheer cost compared with a typical Christmas grocery bill.

Some defended the price, noting that premium ingredients like fillet mignon, mushrooms, and truffle can be expensive. A commenter said, “TBF a kilo of fillet mignon is like £65… add the Wellington process and it’s not that outrageous for a pre-made one that’s 2.1kg.”

The Beef Wellington is part of M&S’s wider Christmas range, which also features items like a £50 turkey & stuffing pie and a £28.50 lasagne, reinforcing the supermarket’s focus on premium, convenience-focused holiday meals.
