Apple is preparing to launch macOS 26, likely named macOS Tahoe, at WWDC 2025. A reliable source says the new update will stop supporting some older Intel-based Macs that are currently able to run macOS Sequoia.

According to the leak, macOS Tahoe will support only these models:

  • MacBook Air (M1 and later)
  • MacBook Pro (2019 and later)
  • iMac (2020 and later)
  • Mac mini (M1 and later)
  • Mac Studio (all models)
  • Mac Pro (2019 and later)

This list matches what was previously shared by other reports. However, there’s a small but important change being rumored.

A private source says Apple might also drop support for the 13-inch MacBook Pro (2020) with Two Thunderbolt 3 ports. But the leaker added that they are not fully confident about this detail, so it should be taken with caution.

Apple has not officially confirmed any of this yet. Full details will likely be revealed at the WWDC keynote on Monday, when macOS 26 will be announced.

As Apple moves forward with its own silicon chips, support for Intel Macs continues to shrink. This could be a sign that future macOS versions may only support M1 and newer models.

If you own an older Intel Mac, especially a 2020 model, it may be time to check your upgrade options.
