Netflix has confirmed that M3GAN 2.0 will begin streaming on January 26, 2026. The film is the sequel to the 2022 sci-fi horror hit M3GAN, which became a surprise box office success.
The sequel takes place two years after the destruction of the original M3GAN. The story explores how the artificial intelligence survives beyond human control and spreads through copied code.
That code is secretly acquired by a defense contractor, which uses it to create Amelia, a next-generation AI weapon designed for military operations. As Amelia grows more advanced, she begins to reject human authority.
As the situation spirals into a global threat, the film introduces a major twist: M3GAN is brought back with major upgrades to stop the new AI from causing further destruction.
Allison Williams returns as Gemma, alongside Violet McGraw as Cady and Brian Jordan Alvarez as Cole. The cast also includes Amie Donald as M3GAN and Jen Van Epps as Tess.
Critical reaction has been mixed. The film holds a 57% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes, while audiences responded more positively with an 81% rating. Some critics praised the sequel for expanding the franchise’s darker tone.
At the box office, M3GAN 2.0 earned around $39 million worldwide, with $24 million from the US and $14 million internationally, according to Box Office Mojo.
With its Netflix release, M3GAN 2.0 is expected to reach a much larger global audience, giving the killer AI a second life on streaming.
