Lewis Hamilton Reunites with Mercedes Team at Austin GP Amid Ferrari Comeback

Lewis Hamilton brought both nostalgia and competitive fire to the 2025 United States Grand Prix weekend. The seven-time world champion, now racing for Ferrari, made a surprise visit to the Mercedes hospitality suite at the Circuit of the Americas, where he spent 12 years of his career and built his legendary status.

Mercedes shared photos of the reunion on social media, showing Hamilton—dressed in Ferrari red—chatting and laughing with his former engineers and team staff. The images reminded fans of the dominant era that saw him win six world titles and 103 of his 105 race victories with the team.

On track, Hamilton showed he still has plenty left in the tank. He finished fourth after a strong drive in Austin, marking his best result so far with Ferrari. “The car felt alive today,” Hamilton said. “We’ve been working hard to get here. It’s starting to come together.”

Ferrari had more to celebrate as Charles Leclerc finished third, joining Red Bull’s Max Verstappen and Mercedes’ George Russell on the podium. The double top-four finish helped Ferrari cut Mercedes’ lead in the constructors’ standings to just seven points with five races remaining.

Leclerc praised Hamilton’s impact, saying, “Lewis pushed me all weekend. Having him in the team changes everything. We’re moving in the right direction.”

Mercedes showed no hard feelings toward their former driver. Team boss Toto Wolff posted one of the reunion photos with the caption: “Always a Silver Arrow at heart. Great to see you, mate.” The message summed up the mutual respect still shared between Hamilton and his old team, even as they fight on opposite sides of the grid.

For fans, Hamilton’s return to the Mercedes garage was a reminder of how far both he and the team have come—and how much remains at stake. As the season heads to Mexico, Ferrari’s late surge suggests that Hamilton’s chase for an eighth world title is alive and well.
