LegalEagle Sues Honey Over Alleged Affiliate Link Theft

YouTube lawyer LegalEagle is suing Honey, a popular browser extension owned by PayPal, over allegations of stealing affiliate link earnings from creators. The lawsuit, filed on January 3, 2025, aims to recover money that creators allegedly lost due to Honey’s actions.

In December 2024, YouTuber MegaLag exposed Honey for replacing creators’ affiliate links with their own, diverting the commissions that creators would have earned.

This practice reportedly affected both consumers and creators, with Honey allegedly manipulating coupon codes and overwriting other affiliate links, leading to creators missing out on their earnings.

LegalEagle, a lawyer and YouTuber with over three million subscribers, is leading the class-action lawsuit against Honey.

He claims that Honey’s actions may have cost creators billions of dollars. LegalEagle argues that Honey’s extension, once installed by users, unfairly took credit for sales that creators were supposed to earn from their audiences.

LegalEagle, along with other attorneys, is seeking damages and an injunction to prevent Honey from continuing these practices. He encourages creators and businesses who have been affected to join the lawsuit through honeylawsuit.com.

The class-action suit, titled Wendover Productions, LLC v. PayPal Inc., accuses Honey of intentionally replacing affiliate links and stealing commissions from online marketers.

LegalEagle hopes this lawsuit will hold Honey accountable and prevent similar practices in the future.
