Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem has criticized the creators of South Park after the show mocked her appearance in a recent episode.
Noem, 53, called the portrayal “lazy” and “petty” during an interview with Glenn Beck on Thursday. She said the cartoon often targets women by making fun of how they look.
“It never ends, but it’s so lazy to constantly make fun of women for how they look,” Noem said. “If they wanted to criticize my job, go ahead. But clearly they can’t, so they just pick something petty like that.”
In the episode, South Park depicted Noem as a glamorous ICE agent who gets Botox, kills puppies, and arrests Hispanic people. Noem said she has not watched the episode because she was busy working on budget matters.
The White House also dismissed the show recently, calling it “irrelevant” after South Park mocked President Trump and his administration.
The day before the episode aired, Homeland Security used an image from the show in a social media post promoting its ICE recruitment campaign.
The agency thanked the show for drawing attention to its hiring efforts and offered new recruits benefits such as a $50,000 signing bonus, student loan forgiveness, and retirement plans.
