Kim Kardashian has addressed growing criticism surrounding her daughter North West’s style choices, including her clothing, makeup, and piercings.
During a recent appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast with Alex Cooper, the reality star and entrepreneur said that her 12-year-old daughter has developed a genuine interest in makeup and often experiments with it.
“She’ll be like, ‘But mom, I grew up literally my whole life sitting in your lap while you’re getting your makeup done, watching you do it,’” Kardashian shared, explaining that North’s curiosity is natural given her upbringing.
Kardashian also discussed the backlash she received for allowing North to get a dermal piercing on her finger, an incident that sparked online debate after the two were photographed in Rome. The SKIMS founder defended her parenting decisions, saying she trusts North’s judgment and wants to give her space to express herself.
“I believe she’s strong enough to make her own decisions,” Kardashian said, adding that raising a teenager comes with challenges. “She does make mistakes, but all I ask for is grace.”
She also praised North’s confidence and maturity, noting that her daughter doesn’t let negative comments affect her. “She didn’t care if the internet didn’t like her blue hair,” Kardashian revealed, saying North handled criticism calmly and independently.
Reflecting on her own journey as a parent, Kardashian admitted she doesn’t always get everything right, especially when it comes to public scrutiny. “Some of my mistakes have been made publicly,” she said. “I’m still learning along the way.”
