Kid Cudi has officially ended his friendship with Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, following Ye’s comments about the late designer Virgil Abloh.
Speaking to CBS Mornings on August 13, 2025, Cudi described Ye’s remarks as “evil” and “vile.” He said, “The man that he has become, I just don’t know that guy anymore.”
Cudi and Ye were longtime collaborators, working together on projects including the 2018 album Kids See Ghosts.
Their relationship had faced several public rifts over the years, but Cudi said Ye’s recent words about Abloh were the final breaking point. “There’s no coming back from that,” he stated.
Abloh, who died from cancer in 2021, was a close friend to Cudi and a celebrated artistic director for Louis Vuitton.
Ye’s critical social media posts about Abloh sparked anger and disappointment from Cudi, who said he was heartbroken to lose a friend but no longer recognizes the person Ye has become.
