Kendrick Lamar has been officially named the new brand ambassador for Chanel. The Grammy-winning rapper will also be the face of Chanel’s eyewear line.
Chanel confirmed the partnership in a statement, saying Kendrick’s first campaign will launch later this week. The campaign is shot by well-known fashion photographer Karim Sadli.
Kendrick’s connection to Chanel started in 2023 when he attended the Met Gala in a custom Chanel outfit. Since then, he has worked with the brand on creative projects, including a short film and set design for a Chanel fashion show.
This is a rare move for Chanel, which does not often feature menswear or male ambassadors. However, Kendrick joins a small group of men who have represented the brand, including Timothée Chalamet and G-Dragon.
In a statement, Kendrick said, “Chanel has a timeless legacy and that is always something I can get behind. Since they don’t make clothes for men, I knew it would have to be glasses.”
Chanel’s fashion president, Bruno Pavlovsky, added that eyewear is an important part of the brand’s image and a strong focus going forward.
At 37, Kendrick Lamar is one of the most respected artists in music. He has won 22 Grammys and a Pulitzer Prize. His work with Chanel shows how his influence now goes beyond music and into the world of high fashion.
