Pop star Katy Perry, 40, and former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, 53, were spotted having dinner together at Le Violon, an upscale restaurant in Montreal’s Plateau neighborhood, on Sunday night. The surprise sighting has fueled speculation about the nature of their relationship.
According to TMZ, the pair shared cocktails and seafood, including lobster, and were seen in deep conversation, with Perry leaning across the table at times. They also visited the kitchen to thank the staff personally, and chef Danny Smiles greeted them during the meal. Security discreetly monitored the area through mirrored glass.
The meeting comes at a time when both public figures are navigating major life changes. Perry recently ended her relationship with actor Orlando Bloom in June 2025 after nine years together and a shared daughter. She is currently on her Lifetimes Tour in Canada, with concerts scheduled in Ottawa (July 29), Montreal (July 30), Quebec City (August 1), and Toronto (August 5–6).
Trudeau, meanwhile, separated from Sophie Grégoire Trudeau in August 2023 after 18 years of marriage and stepped down as Prime Minister in January 2025. He has kept a relatively low profile since leaving office.
Although online chatter quickly exploded with talk of a possible “power couple”, Le Violon’s co-owner Danny Smiles told TMZ there was “no PDA” and the vibe was friendly rather than romantic.
Neither Perry nor Trudeau has made a public comment. Some observers believe the dinner could have been tied to humanitarian or cultural projects, given Perry’s advocacy work and Trudeau’s known interest in global diplomacy and the arts.
For now, the true nature of their dinner remains unknown — but the internet is watching closely.
